ARMILIA

A story extracted from the "Invisible Cities" by Italo Calvino

Armilia is a city made entirely of pipes, in which water flows and gushes continuously, a fundamental element from which my project takes its cue; what fascinated and intrigued me is the freedom and light-heartedness that one breathes while reading this short story, of how this city is populated by "little women" who sing in the morning, happy to live among the thousand reflections of the water.

” At any hour, looking up from the pipes, it is not uncommon to see one or many young women, slender not tall in stature, basking in the bathtubs, arching under the showers suspended in the void, making ablutions, or drying themselves,  perfuming themselves, or combing their long hair in the mirror. The trickles of water fanned by the showers, the jets of the taps, the gushes, the splashes, the foam of the sponges shine in the sun.”
